Johnny Depp, Angelina Jolie heading to the Hollywood Film Awards

The event celebrating the best in cinema for 2014 is being hosted by Queen Latifah live from the Hollywood Palladium Friday evening.

LOS ANGELES, Nov. 10 (UPI) -- Steve Carell, Johnny Depp, Laura Dern, Angelina Jolie, Jared Leto, Jennifer Lopez, Mike Meyers and Robert Pattinson are to attend the first televised edition of the Hollywood Film Awards ceremony Friday, CBS announced.

The event celebrating the best in cinema for 2014 is being hosted by Queen Latifah live from the Hollywood Palladium.

Also scheduled to appear on the broadcast are Eddie Redmayne, Chris Rock and Hilary Swank. They join previously announced guests Amy Adams, Gerard Butler, Benedict Cumberbatch, Robert Downey, Jr., Robert Duvall, Jonah Hill, Keira Knightley, Michael Keaton, Julianne Moore, Jack O'Connell, Chris Pratt, Kristen Stewart, Channing Tatum, Jean-Marc Vallee, Reese Witherspoon and Shailene Woodley.

Recording artist Janelle Monae has been booked to perform.

"The Hollywood Film Awards has recognized excellence in the art of cinema and filmmaking for 17 years, honoring some of the world's biggest stars," the network said in a news release Monday. "They are considered the official launch of the award season."
