LOS ANGELES, Oct. 31 (UPI) -- Kevin Smith is happy with his progress on Clerks III.

The 44-year-old director detailed the sequel on his podcast Smodcast on Wednesday. Smith, co-host Scott Mosier and special guest Jeff Anderson discussed the film, which will begin production in June 2015.

"I like where [the story] [expletive]ing goes so much," Smith shared. "It's my favorite soap opera now. It's kinda like The Empire Strikes Back of the Clerks movies. It doesn't tell the middle story, but it has that kinda feeling."

Smith revealed the first 10 minutes of Clerks III will be shot in black and white, à la the first 10 minutes of Clerks. He also confirmed he will reprise Silent Bob alongside Jason Mewes as Jay, and said the characters are in the film "as much as they were in Clerks and Clerks II."

Clerks premiered in 1994, and was followed by Clerks II in 2006. Smith secured funding for Clerks III in September, following the release of his film Tusk with Justin Long. Anderson and Brian O'Halloran will return as Dante Hicks and Randal Graves for the sequel.
