Meg Ryan, Kiernan Shipka to star in 'Fan Girl'

The film marks Paul Jarrett's directorial debut.

LOS ANGELES, Oct. 23 (UPI) -- Meg Ryan and Kiernan Shipka have been cast in Fan Girl.

The new teen comedy follows a 15-year-old girl who spends her time making movies and obsessing over her favorite band. The character comes up with an idea to combine her two pastimes for a final film project.

Maryland pop punk band All Time Low will appear as themselves and contribute to the movie's soundtrack. Kara Hayward (Moonrise Kingdom), Scott Adsit (30 Rock), Bill Sage (We Are What We Are) and Joshua Boone also star.

Fan Girl is directed by Paul Jarrett, with Gina O'Brien as writer and Jarrett, Nick Huston and Adam Spielberg as producers. O'Brien and Jonathan Gray are executive producers.

Shipka is best known for portraying Sally Draper on AMC series Mad Men. The 14-year-old actress last appeared in a Lifetime adaptation of Flowers in the Attic, and is scheduled for One and Two and February in 2015.

Ryan most recently appeared as Karen Sharpe on Showtime series Web Therapy, and will star alongside Tom Hanks and Sam Shepard in Ithaca in 2015.
