LOS ANGELES, Oct. 21 (UPI) -- Christian Bale could star as Steve Jobs in an upcoming biopic about the late Apple co-funder.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Bale will be stepping in for Leonardo DiCaprio, who pulled out of the film earlier this month over scheduling conflicts.

Danny Boyle has signed on to direct the film after David Fincher bowed out of the production. Bale, however, was Fincher's pick for the role while he was still attached to the project.

The untitled film, dubbed Jobs by IMDb, is based on Walter Isaacson's biography of the Apple co-founder and was scripted by Aaron Sorkin. The movie's release date remains unknown.

Another film detailing the life of Jobs was released in 2013 starring new dad Ashton Kutcher.

Sony had no comment regarding the new reports.
