"We think Facebook is a great way for us to introduce the world of 'Twilight' to a whole new audience while re-energizing existing fans," said Michael Burns, vice chairman of Lions Gate films, the studio that produced the original series.

The five original shorts will be titled The Storytellers - New Creative Voices of The Twilight Saga and will be managed by a team of female directors supported by the Women in Film Organization.

Twilight author Stephenie Meyer, Kristen Stewart, Kate Winslet, Octavia Spencer and Frozen director Jennifer Lee will be on the panel to choose the directors, reports the RadioTimes.

"The female voice is something that has become more and more important to me as I've worked in the film industry," said Meyer. "I'm honoured to be working with Women In Film, Lionsgate and Facebook on a project dedicated to giving more women a chance to be heard creatively."
