'Maze Runner' brings in $11.3M Friday

"The Maze Runner" brought in $11.3 million Friday, which should be good enough for a solid $30 million weekend.

HOLLYWOOD, Sept. 20 (UPI) -- The Maze Runner, the latest in a slew of young adult adaptations to hit the big screen, pulled in $11.3 million Friday night to lead the box office.

At this pace, the film, which opened Friday and stars Dylan O'Brien as lead, is expected to bring in about $30 million for the weekend.

Thomas Brodie-Sangster and Ki Hong Lee help round out the large cast of almost all teenage boys — and one girl, Kaya Scodelario.

The thriller lead the pack Friday. A Walk Among the Tombstones brought in $4.7 million, This is Where I Leave You pulled $3.9 million, No Good Deed had $2.95 million and Dolphin Tale 2 came in fifth with $2.14 million.
