Matt Smith lands role in 'Pride and Prejudice and Zombies'

The actor recently completed a four-season run on "Doctor Who."

LOS ANGELES, Sept. 18 (UPI) -- Matt Smith has been cast in Pride and Prejudice and Zombies.

The 31-year-old actor will portray Mr. William Collins, a clergyman and heir to the Bennet estate who proposes to Liz Bennet (Lily James). The film is based on Seth Grahame-Smith's parody novel of the same name, which is based itself on Jane Austen's 1813 book Pride and Prejudice.

Pride and Prejudice and Zombies follows Liz as she courts suitors and fights zombies in the English countryside. Burr Steers will direct, with Natalie Portman and Brian Oliver of Cross Creek Pictures as producers. Sam Riley, Jack Huston, Bella Heathcote and Douglas Booth also star.

Smith recently completed a four-season run on BBC series Doctor Who. The actor will appear alongside Emilia Clarke, Jason Clarke and Arnold Schwarzenegger in Terminator: Genisys in 2015.
