LOS ANGELES, Sept. 2 (UPI) -- Brittany Murphy's father Angelo Bertolotti has slammed the upcoming Lifetime biopic about his late daughter, calling the film "unauthorized" and "untrue."

"I am disgusted and outraged that Lifetime decided to produce such a trashy project, defiling the memory of my beautiful, talented daughter, Brittany Murphy," Bertolotti told The Examiner about the flick.

The Brittany Murphy Story is slated for a September 6 debut and tells the story of the actress' "rise fame in the 1990s, her struggles with celebrity and self-esteem, and her mysterious death in 2009." Per Bertolotti, the film also claims Murphy was abandoned by her father at the age of 2.

"Frankly, I am amazed at their audacity of calling it 'a true story' without conducting any research," Betolotti continued. "The Brittany Murphy Story is an affront to everything my daughter was in real life. It's hideous, unauthorized and completely untrue."

Murphy's father went on to say that even the casting for the film has been "atrocious."

"Amanda Fuller, the girl playing Brittany, looks absolutely nothing like her. Everyone looks ridiculous in their bad wigs and the dialogue is nauseating."

While Bartolotti has made headlines in the past over his conspiracies that Murphy was poisoned, at least a couple news outlets share his sentiment about the film. TV Guide said the flick "looks bad, even by Lifetime standards," and Vulture wrote that the film looked "god awful" and there are "amateur pornos made at a higher quality."
