Brad Pitt, Angelina Jolie filming 'By the Sea' in Malta

The film is the couple's first project together since 2005's "Mr. & Mrs. Smith."

GONZO, Malta, Aug. 18 (UPI) -- Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie are filming By the Sea in Malta.

The Malta Independent reports production on the new drama began Sunday at Mgarr ix-Xini beach on Gozo, Malta's second largest island. The country is comprised of seven islands in the Mediterranean Sea.

The movie is the couple's first film together since 2005's Mr. & Mrs. Smith, and plot details are being kept tightly under wraps. Pitt and Jolie will portray a married couple, and the actors will also produce the feature. Universal Pictures has worldwide rights to the film, which is scheduled for release in 2015.

Pitt previously filmed in Malta for Troy (2004) and World War Z (2013). The actor will next appear in Fury on October 17, and Jolie is involved with Kung Fu Panda 3 and Salt 2.
