LOS ANGELES, Aug. 14 (UPI) -- The Martin Scorsese-produced crime drama Revenge of the Green Dragons will be released on demand before it makes its way into theaters later this year.

Revenge of the Green Dragons explores Asian American gang life in New York City in the 1980s and '90s. The film is Scorsese's second collaboration with co-writer Lau, who wrote the film (Infernal Affairs) that Scorsese remade as The Departed.

A24 and DirecTV have already partnered with two other directors for the limited release of their films before they hit movie theaters. Both Denis Villeneuve's drama Enemy and Jeff Baena's Life After Beth were available on demand for 30 days prior to their official releases in March and Friday respectively.
