Daniel Radcliffe stars in first trailer for 'Horns'

The movie is based on Joe Hill's 2010 novel of the same name.

LOS ANGELES, July 29 (UPI) -- Daniel Radcliffe stars in the first trailer for Horns.

The 25-year-old actor portrays Ig Perrish, a young man accused of the rape and murder of his girlfriend, Merrin Williams (Juno Temple). The character grows horns overnight that give him the power to compel others to spill their deepest secrets, and uses the paranormal ability to find Merrin's real killer.

The fantasy-thriller is based on Joe Hill's 2010 novel of the same name, and adapted for film by screenwriter Keith Bunin. Alexandre Aja (The Hills Have Eyes, Piranha 3D) directed the feature, and Heather Graham, James Remar, Kelli Garner, Joe Anderson and Max Minghella co-star.

"[The movie is] a true fable about first love and revenge and everything we are and sometimes things we don't want to admit that we are," Aja said at the film's premiere at the 2013 Toronto International Film Festival.

Horns is scheduled for release on Halloween, October 31.
