LOS ANGELES, July 15 (UPI) -- Robert Downey Jr. and Robert Duvall star as a combative father and son in the film The Judge.
Hank Palmer (Downey Jr.) is a hot shot lawyer who gets a call from his family notifying him that his mother died. After reluctantly returning to his hometown, Palmer learns that his father, a former judge (Duvall), is under suspicion for murder.

Palmer swallows his animosity toward his distant parent and defends him during the trial of his life.
The Judge is directed by David Dobkin and also stars Leighton Meester and Billy Bob Thorton. The film will hit theaters October 10.
