LOS ANGELES, June 16 (UPI) -- Steve Martin will reportedly return for a Father of the Bride 3.

The 68-year-old actor portrayed George Banks in the original remake and its sequel. The first movie followed George as his daughter Annie (Kimberly Williams) got married, and the second saw his wife Nina (Diane Keaton) unexpectedly become pregnant before their retirement.

Father of the Bride 3 is said to focus on George's son, Matty, who was portrayed by Kieran Culkin in the original films. The character is now 29, and engaged to the son of a Navy SEAL. George struggles to accept the marriage and is subsequently kicked out by Nina.

Charles Shyer, who directed the first movie, is attached to direct and write the new sequel. Keaton will return as Nina, and it is unknown if Culkin will star as Matty.
