LOS ANGELES, June 16 (UPI) -- Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice has reportedly found its Aquaman.

According to HitFix, Game of Thrones actor Jason Momoa is confirmed for role. Director Zack Snyder is said to have finished the character's design, and shooting will begin in the near future.

In the original DC comics, Aquaman is a superhero who grew up in Atlantis. He is able to survive underwater and possesses telepathic powers that allow him to communicate with and control marine creatures. In addition, he is an extremely fast and powerful swimmer, and is unaffected by the immense pressure and cold temperatures of very deep water.

HitFix says Aquaman does not play a major role in Dawn of Justice, but will most likely return for a large part in Snyder's Justice League movie. Dawn of Justice is scheduled for release May 6, 2016, with Justice League to follow some time after.
