LOS ANGELES, June 13 (UPI) -- Robert Pattinson denied reports that he will play the title role in an upcoming remake of Indiana Jones while speaking to Access Hollywood at the premiere of his latest flick, The Rover.

"I didn't even know they were making the spinoffs," the 28-year-old British actor said. "So, I don't know."

Earlier in June multiple sources claimed that the Twilight star was "at the top of the initial list" for the role as the whip-cracking hero.

After reaching commercial success with roles in the five Twilight films, Pattinson has been opting for parts in indie films like the historic flick, Bel Ami, and the dramatic thriller, Cosmopolis.

The actor's latest effort, The Rover will premiere on June 20.
