'Star Wars: Episode VII' starts production at Pinewood Studios

Starring Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher, Mark Hamill, Anthony Daniels, Peter Mayhew and Kenny Baker, the movie is scheduled to storm theaters in 2015.

LONDON, May 16 (UPI) -- A photo posted on the official Star Wars Twitter account Friday shows a building at Britain's Pinewood Studios with a giant "VII" on it, confirming production on the science-fiction flick has officially begun.

Directed by J.J. Abrams, the eagerly awaited sequel will feature the stars from the original trilogy -- Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher, Mark Hamill, Anthony Daniels, Peter Mayhew and Kenny Baker -- as well as newcomers John Boyega, Daisy Ridley, Adam Driver, Oscar Isaac, Andy Serkis, Domhnall Gleeson and Max von Sydow.

The as-yet-untitled movie is set for release Dec. 18, 2015.
