SACRAMENTO, May 8 (UPI) -- Actress, broadcast journalist and church minister Jackie Lynn Taylor Fries has died after a battle with Alzheimer's disease, said her husband, Jack. She was 88.

Fries died Monday in Citrus Heights, Calif.

She was best known for playing Jane in five Our Gang or Little Rascals movies released in 1934-35.

"We didn't have scripts," Fries told The Sacramento Bee in 2000. "We played together. We were kids who worked together, who played together and who went to school together. We weren't great actors, but we got along."

Fries and her husband later served as ministers in the nondenominational Unity Church, leading congregations in Missouri, California and Nevada.

A private funeral service is being planned. Donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association in lieu of flowers.
