'Amazing Spider-Man 2' snags $30.5M on opening Friday

"Amazing Spider-Man 2" needs to take in about $752.2 million worldwide.

LOS ANGELES, May 3 (UPI) -- The Amazing Spider-Man 2 took the No. 1 spot at the box office Friday night, raking in $35.5 million.

The latest Marvel film is expected to take in $90 million to $92 million in its opening three-day weekend.

The production budget for the movie, which stars Andrew Garfield, Emma Stone and Jamie Foxx, was about $255 million with about $185 million spent on marketing. It needs to make more than $752.2 million to be profitable.

Flushing out the rest of the box office top-10 spots Friday were: The Other Woman with $3.8 million, Heaven is for Real with $2.4 million, Captain America: The Winter Soldier with $2.1 million, Rio 2 with $1.7 million, Brick Mansions with $1.1 million, Divergent with $615,000, The Quiet Ones with $670,000, God's Not Dead with $490,000 and The Grand Budapest Hotel with $475,000.
