Zack Snyder to direct 'Justice League' movie

The Justice League is a DC Comics superhero team that originally featured Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman, Flash, Green Lantern, Aquaman and Martian Manhunter.

LOS ANGELES, April 28 (UPI) -- Zack Snyder will direct a film adaptation of Justice League.

The 48-year-old director is no stranger to comic book adaptations, having previously directed 300, Watchmen and Man of Steel. He will next bring Batman vs. Superman to life in 2016, and a Justice League movie will follow.

"It will be a further expansion of this universe," Warner Bros. worldwide production president Greg Silverman tells the Wall Street Journal. "Batman vs. Superman will lead into Justice League."

The Justice League is a DC Comics superhero team that originally featured Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman, Flash, Green Lantern, Aquaman and Martian Manhunter. Green Arrow, Captain Marvel, Black Canary and Cyborg are others who have also appeared. Ben Affleck, Henry Cavill and Gal Gadot will star as Batman, Superman and Wonder Woman, respectively, in Batman vs. Superman, and are expected to return for the Justice League movie. Additional characters are currently unknown.

Batman vs. Superman and Justice League will be shot back-to-back. Batman vs. Superman is scheduled for release May 6, 2016, and a release date for Justice League has not been set.
