LOS ANGELES, April 24 (UPI) -- Aubrey Peeples has been cast as Jem in the upcoming Jem and the Holograms movie.
The 20-year-old actress currently stars on Nashville, and will soon appear in Tokarev alongside Nicolas Cage. Peeples will be joined by Stefanie Scott as Jem's sister, Kimber, Aurora Perrineau as Shana and Hayley Kiyoko as Aja.
The Jem and the Holograms movie is based on the 1980s Hasbro toy line and cartoon of the same name. The story follows Jerrica Benton, a music company owner, whose alter ego Jem performs with her band the Holograms. The movie's plot will change Jem into an orphan teenage musical sensation who embarks with her friends on an adventure across Los Angeles.
Jon M. Chu (G.I. Joe Retaliation) is signed on to direct, and production on the film has already started.
