LOS ANGELES, April 22 (UPI) -- How to Train Your Dragon 2 gave fans a treat on Monday -- a clip of the first five minutes of the movie.

The opening sequence features main character Hiccup and his dragon, Toothless, as they soar across the sky and wrestle upon their return to Earth. Meanwhile, the pair's friends and their dragons participate in a race on and above the island of Berk.

The How to Train Your Dragon sequel takes place five years after the original movie. Hiccup and his friends are now in their late teens, and discover new dragons and cultures in the upcoming film.

"Hiccup and the gang are now 19 and 20-year-olds," director Dan DeBlois said in a featurette earlier in April. "It's all about unbridled freedom. We have all kinds of new dragons to show the audience...some really surprising ones, as well."

"This film is a journey of discoveries," he continued. "Realizing that what you perceive as your weaknesses can actually be strengths. I think that touches everybody in all walks of life."

How to Train Your Dragon 2 debuts in theaters on June 13.
