BURBANK, Calif., April 18 (UPI) -- Principal photography is to begin next week on location in Australia for San Andreas, a new action thriller starring Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson.

New Line Cinema and Village Roadshow Pictures said production will start Tuesday.

The project reunites Johnson with director Brad Peyton and producer Beau Flynn, following their collaboration on the 2012 global hit, Journey 2: The Mysterious Island.

"After the infamous San Andreas Fault finally gives, triggering a magnitude 9 earthquake in California, a search and rescue helicopter pilot (Johnson) and his estranged wife make their way together from Los Angeles to San Francisco to save their only daughter," a synopsis said.

Co-starring Carla Gugino, Alexandra Daddario and Archie Panjabi, the film is slated to open in theaters June 5, 2015.
