'X-Men: Days of Future Past' releases a third and final official trailer

The new clip emphasizes the film's time-bending plot as Wolverine interacts with old and young versions of X-Men characters.

LOS ANGELES, April 16 (UPI) -- X-Men: Days of Future Past has released a third and final official trailer ahead of its release in May.

Actor Hugh Jackman takes center stage as Wolverine in the new preview. The clip emphasizes the movie's time-bending plot as Wolverine interacts with past and present versions of various X-Men characters.

The upcoming film will see the characters unite with their younger selves in a fight for survival across two periods of time. James McAvoy and Patrick Stewart will star as young and old Professor X, respectively, while Michael Fassbender and Ian McKellan will portray young and old Magneto. Jennifer Lawrence, Ellen Page and Halle Berry will reprise their roles as Mystique, Kitty Pryde and Storm, respectively.

X-Men: Days of Future Past debuts in theaters on May 23.
