LONDON, April 16 (UPI) -- Murder She Wrote
actress Angela Lansbury
was made a dame by the Queen of England on Wednesday.
The 88-year-old Lansbury, who appeared in The Picture of Dorian Gray, Bedknobs and Broomsticks, and The Manchurian Candidate, was given the honor at Windsor Castle.
"To meet the Queen under these circumstances is a rare and lovely occasion," she said.
Lansbury was born in Britain, but immigrated to the United States
as child after the death of her father during World War II.
Lansbury joins fellow actress dames Judi Dench and Maggie Smith.
