LOS ANGELES, Feb. 20 (UPI) -- Amanda Bynes' lawyer told People.com the U.S. actress is "doing great" after her high-profile hospitalization for psychiatric care last year.

"Everything is fine," attorney Bob Wilson said Thursday. "She's doing great."

Bynes, 27, is now enrolled at California's Orange County campus of Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising. She also is frequently photographed going to and from the gym.

The star of "What I Like About You" and "The Amanda Show" spent six months between the hospital and rehab last year, finishing up in December. She was treated for substance abuse and unspecified mental issues.

Bynes began acting at the age of 7 and had a busy career in both television and movies. She announced her retirement in 2010, changed her mind, then retired again in 2012.

Last year, she faced criminal charges including marijuana possession and reckless endangerment in New York City for allegedly throwing a bong out of her apartment window. On Jan. 10, her lawyer accepted a deal in which the charges will be dismissed if she stays out of trouble for six months.
