NEW YORK, Feb. 19 (UPI) -- The late actor Philip Seymour Hoffman left a will bequeathing most of his estate to his longtime girlfriend and requesting his son be raised in New York.

At the time of his death of a suspected heroin overdose this month, Hoffman was living in a Manhattan apartment a few blocks away from his partner Mimi O'Donnell and their children -- son Cooper, 10, daughter Tallulah, 7, and daughter Willa, 5.

Cooper was 1 and Hoffman's only child when the Oscar-winning actor drew up his will, the New York Post said.

"It is my strong desire... that my son, Cooper Hoffman, be raised and reside in or near the borough of Manhattan ... or Chicago, Ill., or San Francisco, Calif.," Hoffman said in the 13-page will filed in Manhattan Surrogate's Court Wednesday morning. "The purpose of this request is so that my son will be exposed to the culture, arts and architecture that such cities offer."

The Post said Hoffman also set up a trust for Cooper, naming O'Donnell as their son's guardian and trustee of the funds.
