Hoffman death investigation leads to drug raid, four arrests

NEW YORK, Feb. 5 (UPI) -- Four suspected drug dealers, who may have sold heroin to the late actor Philip Seymour Hoffman, have been arrested in Manhattan, the New York Post said.

Narcotics officers said they found about 350 glassine envelopes containing what appeared to be heroin inside three apartments in a Mott Street building Tuesday night.

The authorities obtained a search warrant after receiving a tip that Hoffman had bought drugs at the Lower Manhattan location, the Post said.

The bags of heroin found in the apartments Tuesday did not, however, have the same "Ace of Spades" stamp found on packets of heroin discovered in Hoffman's home after his death of a suspected overdose Sunday, the newspaper said.

Robert Vineberg, 57, and Thomas Kushman, 48, were arrested and charged with felony drug possession Tuesday. Max Rosenblum and Juliana Luchkiw, both 22, were arrested and charged with misdemeanor drug possession.

Police were talking to another man, Robert Aaron Vineberg, but he has not been charged with a crime yet, the report said.

Hoffman was found dead, wearing a T-shirt and shorts, on the bathroom floor of his Greenwich Village apartment with a syringe in his left arm. The Oscar-winning actor was 46.
