'Lone Survivor' tops weekend box office

LOS ANGELES, Jan. 12 (UPI) -- "Lone Survivor," with Mark Wahlberg. was the big winner at the weekend box office with $38.511 million in receipts.

The animated "Frozen" stayed strong, coming in at No. 2 with $15.07 million.

All studio estimates of gross North American receipts are via Box Office Mojo.

"The Wolf of Wall Street" was third with $9 million; "The Legend of Hercules" and "American Hustle" were tied for fourth with $8.6 million; "The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug" sixth with $8.015 million; "August: Osage County" seventh with $7.315 million; "Saving Mr. Banks" eighth with $6.578 million; "Paranormal Activity: The Marked Ones" ninth with $6.3 million.

"Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues" was 10th with $6.1 million.
