Jennifer Lawrence, Amy Adams win Golden Globe Awards

LOS ANGELES, Jan. 12 (UPI) -- "American Hustle" was named Best Comedy or Musical Film at the Golden Globe Awards ceremony in Los Angeles Sunday night.

Jennifer Lawrence received the evening's first prize for Best Supporting Actress in a Film, while her co-star Amy Adams earned the accolade for Best Actress in a Comedy or Musical Film a short time later.

Directed by David O. Russell, "American Hustle" is about a pair of small-time grifters forced by an ambitious FBI agent to help bring down gangsters and corrupt officials in 1970s New York and New Jersey. The film co-stars Christian Bale, Bradley Cooper, Robert De Niro and Jeremy Renner.

Bale and Adams previously collaborated with Russell on 2010's "The Fighter," while Cooper, De Niro and Lawrence co-starred in the filmmaker's 2012 picture "Silver Linings Playbook."
