LOS ANGELES, Dec. 23 (UPI) -- The seventh installment in Hollywood's "Fast & Furious" film franchise is to be released April 10, 2015, star Vin Diesel announced on Facebook.

Shooting on the movie had already begun, but was suspended after Diesel's co-star Paul Walker was killed while he was a passenger in a fiery car crash after attending a Nov. 30 charity event. The action picture was initially expected to hit theaters this July.

"The last scene we filmed together ... there was a unique sense of completion, of pride we shared ... in the film we were now completing ... the magic captured ... and, in just how far we've come ... Fast and Furious 7 will be released ... April 10th 2015! P.S. He'd want you to know first ..." Diesel wrote online Sunday, referring to Walker.

The Hollywood Reporter said the late actor will appear in "Fast & Furious 7," but it is unclear how much screen time his character, ex-cop Brian O'Conner, will have or how he will be written out of the movie.
