10 films shortlisted for Visual Effects Oscar

BEVERLY HILLS, Calif., Dec. 5 (UPI) -- Hollywood's Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences Thursday announced 10 films remain in the running in the Visual Effects category for the 86th Oscars.

"The Lone Ranger"

"Oblivion"

"Star Trek Into Darkness"

"Thor: The Dark World"

"Warner Bros. Pictures and Legendary Pictures Pacific Rim"

"World War Z"

Five films will be nominated for the VFX award Jan. 16.

Oscars will be handed out March 2 at the Dolby Theatre at Hollywood & Highland Center in Los Angeles.
