BERLIN, Nov. 29 (UPI) -- British director Ken Loach is to be presented with an honorary Golden Bear Award for career achievement at the 64th Berlin Film Festival, organizers announced.

Festival director Dieter Kosslick described Loach as "one of Europe's great directors."

"His profound interest in people and their individual fates, as well as his critical commitment to society have found expression in a variety of cinematic approaches," Kosslick said.

The festival will feature a screening of Loach's 1993 Cannes Jury Prize winner "Raining Stones," Deadline.com reported. Loach's other credits include "Cathy Come Home," "Land and Freedom," "My Name Is Joe," "Bread and Roses," "The Wind That Shakes the Barley," "Looking For Eric" and "The Angel's Share."
