Jamie Foxx shows directing knack in short film 'Eve'

HOLLYWOOD, Nov. 16 (UPI) -- Jamie Foxx called his stylish new science-fiction short film "And She Was My Eve" the result of his past work with top-tier Hollywood directors.

Foxx teamed up with Ron Howard and the camera company Canon to create the story of a mad scientist played by Tyrin Turner who creates a living being designed to be the perfect mate.

But as happened in the classic story "Frankenstein," the whole thing blows up in the inventor's face.

Foxx told MTV this week he followed the lead of masters such as Oliver Stone, Antoine Fuqua and Quentin Tarantino while shooting. "I've watched over the shoulder of some of the best directors in the world," Foxx said. "A lot of those shots that I used in my short [came] directly from rubbing up against those guys."

The Hollywood Reporter said Foxx has a full schedule of acting gigs in the near future, but working behind the camera is definitely a possibility down the road. "It gave me the bug," he said. "I want to be able to do things with no constraints and really just go at it. I've got a couple of comedies I want to make and a thriller I want to direct."
