'Bad Grandpa' opens to strong box office with $32 million

LOS ANGELES, Oct. 27 (UPI) -- "Jackass Presents: Bad Grandpa" opened to a strong $32 million to lead the U.S. box office for the week, pushing "Gravity" to second place with $20.3 million.

"Captain Phillips," starring Tom Hanks and Catherine Keener, was third with $11.8 million.

"The Counselor" came in fourth at $8 million.

"Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2" was fifth with an estimated $6.1 million.

"Carrie (2013)" was sixth with $5.9 million; "Escape Plan" seventh with $4.3 million; "12 Years a Slave" eighth with $2.15 million; "Enough Said" ninth with $1.5 million.

"Prisoners" was 10th with $1.06 million.

All studio estimates of gross North American receipts are via Box Office Mojo..
