LOS ANGELES, Oct. 4 (UPI) -- Director-producer Lee Daniels is to be honored at this month's 17th annual Hollywood Film Awards ceremony, organizers announced Friday.

Daniels is to be presented with the Hollywood Director Award for his work on "Lee Daniels' The Butler" at the Oct. 21 gala at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills, Calif.

"It's a great honor for us to recognize Lee's outstanding work with this top directing honor of the year.
