'Prisoners' captures weekend box office

LOS ANGELES, Sept. 22 (UPI) -- "Prisoners," a thriller starring Hugh Jackman and Jake Gyllenhaal, was No. 1 at the weekend box office with $21.43 million.

"Insidious Chapter 2," with Rose Byrne and Patrick Wilson, was second with $14.5 million.

All studio estimates of gross North American receipts are via Box Office Mojo.

"The Family (2013)" was third with $7 million; "Instructions Not Included" fourth with $5.7 million; "Battle of the Year" fifth with $5 million; "We're the Millers" sixth with $4.67 million; "Lee Daniels' The Butler" seventh with $4.304 million; "Riddick" eighth with $3.672 million; "The Wizard of Oz (3D/IMAX)" ninth with $3.022 million.

And "Planes" was 10th with $2.861 million.
