Actress is HIV positive, porn production suspended

LOS ANGELES, Aug. 24 (UPI) -- A porn industry trade group Saturday called for a moratorium on production after a Los Angeles actress tested positive for HIV, the virus that causes AIDS.

The actress, who goes professionally by Cameron Bay, tested positive this week, the Los Angeles Times reported.

The trade group Free Speech Coalition said it was working with a doctor affiliated with Adult Production Health and Safety Services, an agency operated by the coalition to monitor and treat sexually transmitted diseases.

Coalition head Diane Duke said other performers who might have been exposed to the virus will be contacted and production will be suspended until performers who had sexual contact with Bay are tested and given medical clearance, the Times reported Saturday.

"Because of the rigorous APHSS protocols, the situation was accessed quickly and -- most importantly -- action was taken to ensure the protocols were followed," Duke said.

She said there was no indication Bay contracted the virus on a film set.

Bay's manager Mark Schechter said she was cooperating with efforts to notify her partners promptly.

Bay's most recent test prior to this week was July 27, when she tested negative for STD, Schechter said.
