'Elysium' takes weekend box office honors

LOS ANGELES, Aug. 11 (UPI) -- "Elysium," starring Matt Damon and Jodie Foster, was the No. 1 weekend movie with $30.4 million in gross receipts.

"We're the Millers," with Jason Sudeikis and Jennifer Aniston, was second with $26.555 million.

All studio estimates of gross North American receipts are via Box Office Mojo.

"Planes" was third with $22.525 million;"Percy Jackson: Sea of Monsters" fourth with $14.6 million; "2 Guns" fifth with $11.128 million; "The Smurfs 2" sixth with $9.5 million; "The Wolverine" seventh with $8 million; "The Conjuring" eighth with $6.7 million; "Despicable Me 2" ninth with $5.748 million.

And "Grown Ups 2" was 10th with $3.7 million.
