LOS ANGELES, Aug. 1 (UPI) -- U.S. actress and filmmaker Helen Hunt is to direct herself in "Ride," a big-screen drama she also wrote and produced, Deadline.com reported.

Hunt is to begin shooting the film in Los Angeles next week, the report said. "Ride" stars Luke Wilson, David Zayas, Mike White, Richard Kind, Leonor Varela, Elizabeth Jayne and Brenton Thwaites.

The former "Mad About You" sitcom star and "As Good As It Gets" Oscar winner made her feature film directorial debut with 2007's "Then She Found Me," in which she co-starred with Bette Midler and Colin Firth.

Hunt earned an Oscar nod for her performance in 2012's "The Sessions."
