'Despicable' again tops at box office with $44.75 million

LOS ANGELES, July 14 (UPI) -- The animated "Despicable Me 2," with the voice of Steve Carell, was No. 1 at the box office for the second weekend with $44.754 million in receipts.

"Grown Ups 2," with Adam Sandler, Kevin James and Chris Rock among other stars, was a very close second with $42.5 million.

All studio estimates of North American box office receipts are via Box Office Mojo.

"Pacific Rim" was a very healthy third with $38.3 million; "The Heat" fourth with $14 million; "The Lone Ranger" fifth with $11.14 million; "Monsters University" sixth with $10.621 million; "World War Z" seventh with $9.43 million; "White House Down" eighth with $6.15 million; "Kevin Hart: Let Me Explain," ninth with $5 million.

And "Man of Steel" 10th with $4.825 million.
