Clooney-Bullock film 'Gravity' to open the Venice Film Festival

VENICE, Italy, July 4 (UPI) -- "Gravity," a science-fiction film starring George Clooney and Sandra Bullock, is to open Italy's 70th Venice International Film, organizers announced.

The 3D movie was directed by Alfonso Cuaron and features the stars as astronauts lost in space.

It will be screened at the festival Aug. 28 ahead of its planned Oct. 4 U.S. theatrical release, The Hollywood Reporter said.
