'Man of Steel' rises to the box office heights

LOS ANGELES, June 16 (UPI) -- "Man of Steel," starring Henry Cavill and Diane Lane, raked in a whopping $113.08 million for the top weekend box office spot.

"This is the End," starring James Franco, Jonah Hill and Seth Rogen, took in a distant but still respectable $20.5 million for second.

All studio estimates of gross North American receipts are via Box Office Mojo.

"Now You See Me" was third with $10.32 million; "Fast & Furious" fourth with $9.433 million; "The Purge" fifth with $8.201 million; "The Internship" sixth with $7 million; "Epic" seventh with $6 million; "Star Trek Into Darkness" eighth with $5.66 million; "After Earth" ninth with $3.75 million.

And "Iron Man 3" was 10th with $2.908 million.
