LOS ANGELES, June 10 (UPI) -- Percy Daggs III and Chris Lowell have signed on to star in the film version of their former California-set TV detective show "Veronica Mars," producers said.

Series creator and movie writer-director Rob Thomas announced during the weekend Daggs will reprise his role of Wallace Fennel and Lowell will again play Stosh "Piz" Piznarski, TVGuide.com reported.

The actors will join Kristen Bell, Jason Dohring and Enrico Colantoni in the big-screen revival of their critically acclaimed but low-rated drama, which ran for three seasons from 2004 to 2007.

TVGuide.com said production on the "Veronica Mars" movie is to begin in less than two weeks.

Thomas raised the film's nearly $6 million budget through a Kickstarter fan-contribution campaign.
