'Fast & Furious' roars to top box office spot

LOS ANGELES, June 2 (UPI) -- "Fast & Furious 6," a sequel starring Vin Diesel and The Rock, swept into first place at the box office this weekend with $34.538 million

"Now You See Me," a caper film starring Morgan Freeman, Woody Harrelson and Michael Caine among others, was second with $28.050 million.

All studio estimates of North American gross receipts are via Box Office Mojo.

"After Earth" was a close third with $27 million; "Epic" was tied for fourth with $16.4 million; "Star Trek Into Darkness" also tied for fourth with $16.4 million; "The Hangover Part III" was sixth with $15.93 million; "Iron Man 3" seventh with $8.006 million; "The Great Gatsby (2013)" eighth with $6.265 million; "The Croods" ninth with $615,000.
