LOS ANGELES, May 24 (UPI) -- Hollywood actor Tom Cruise will not star as planned in the big-screen adaptation of the classic TV series "The Man From U.N.C.L.E.," Deadline reported.

Guy Ritchie is to direct the movie for Warner Bros. this fall. It will co-star Armie Hammer.

Deadline said Cruise dropped out of the secret-agent picture because he wanted to focus on producing and starring in "Mission: Impossible 5," which is to begin shooting at the end of the year.

The TV version of "The Man From U.N.C.L.E." aired from 1964-68 and starred Robert Vaughan and David McCallum.
