Tom Cruise signs up for 'Mission: Impossible 5'

LOS ANGELES, May 7 (UPI) -- Hollywood actor Tom Cruise has signed on to star in a fifth installment of the blockbuster "Mission: Impossible" film franchise, EW.com reported.

The first "M:I" movie premiered in 1996, while the fourth movie came out in 2011.

Deadline.com said Christopher McQuarrie, the writer-director of Cruise's 2012 action thriller "Jack Reacher," is in talks to direct "M:I5."
