LOS ANGELES, May 4 (UPI) -- U.S. actor Leonardo DiCaprio said he hasn't ruled out the idea of getting married and starting a family, but doesn't "try to determine what the future will be."

"The Great Gatsby" star told Extra he doesn't have any immediate plans to marry, and didn't mention whether he's even dating anyone at the moment.

"I take it as it comes," he said. "We'll see what happens in the future. We'll see what happens. ... I don't try to determine what the future will be. I take it day by day."

The 38-year-old actor has previously been linked to models Gisele Bundchen, Erin Heatherton and Bar Refaeli, and actress Blake Lively, the Los Angeles Times said Thursday.

DiCaprio recently told Esquire the nature of his job as an actor can put a strain on relationships.

"Six months of being on location or being off in Morocco or someplace like that is not the best thing for a relationship," he said.

He said he would like to take some time off from acting to focus more on his environmental causes.

"To me, right now it's about getting a little breather -- getting some time off. Not a permanent break or not an indefinite period, but you know, just a few months off to do some other things," he said.
