LOS ANGELES, April 13 (UPI) -- U.S. actress Zoe Saldana said she doesn't "need anybody" but her family "but a man is something that I want."

In an interview with Latina magazine, the "Star Trek Into Darkness" actress said she doesn't "want to need things."

"I need water, you know what I'm saying? I need to exercise, I need to eat. To be with a man should be a want. I don't need anybody. And the people that I do need are just family, tu entiendes?" Saldana said.

"But a man is something that I want, I want be with a partner, because this partner is going to add or I'm going to add to this partner," she added.

Saldana said she tends to recover well from romantic breakups. Her relationship with "The Words" co-star Bradley Cooper ended in January, the Los Angeles Times reported.

"When I lose, when my heart is broken, when I lose a competition, when I don't get something, when something doesn't go my way or I have a heartbreak or whatever, maybe it's just the kind of person that I am, or maybe I haven't really fallen in love yet, had that crash boom bam in my life yet, but I tend to recover, you know, healthy and smoothly," she said.

Saldana said reports she had a breakdown after the filming of "Avatar" were exaggerated.

She said she just felt a little over stimulated and needed a rest.

"That was completely blown out of proportion," she said.
