Winslet, Woodley start shooting 'Divergent' in Chicago

SANTA MONICA, Calif., April 9 (UPI) -- Principal photography has begun in Chicago on "Divergent," a science-fiction film starring Shailene Woodley and Kate Winslet, producers said.

Summit Entertainment and Lionsgate said Ray Stevenson and Mekhi Phifer also have joined the cast of the movie, which started shooting Monday.

The ensemble includes Theo James, Maggie Q, Jai Courtney, Miles Teller, Zoe Kravitz, Ansel Elgort, Ben Lloyd-Hughes, Ben Lamb, Christian Madsen and Amy Newbold.

The film, a futuristic action adventure is based on author Veronica Roth's best-selling young adult novel, is due in theaters March 21, 2014.

Neil Burger is directing the movie from a script by Vanessa Taylor.
