LOS ANGELES, March 31 (UPI) -- "G.I. Joe: Retaliation" was the No. 1 movie at the U.S. box office, grossing an estimated $41.2 million in its opening weekend.

The figure fell considerably short of matching the opening weekend take of "G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra" -- $54.7 million in 2009 -- Box Office Mojo said.

The animated comedy "The Croods" slipped from the top spot to No. 2 this weekend, taking in $26.5 million, a 39.5 percent drop from its opening weekend gross of $88.6 million.

"Tyler Perry's Temptation: Confessions of a Marriage Counselor," opened to an estimated gross of $22.3 million, good for third place, while "Olympus Has Fallen" took fourth with $14 million.

"Oz The Great and Powerful" finished fifth in its fourth week in release, taking in $11.6 million for a cumulative gross of $198.3 million.

"The Host," writer Stephanie Meyer's follow-up to the "Twilight" series, opened at No. 6 with $11 million.

"The Call" ($4.8 million), "Admission" ($3.5 million), "Spring Breakers" ($2.7 million) and "The Incredible Burt Wonderstone" ($1.3 million) rounded out the Top 10.
